 Syarief and Hollies are brother who live in the land contracted by the scavengers’ leader. They moved from their village in West Java about three months ago because their father was not able to make more money in the village since their land had dried out because of the bad drainage.Their mother had left the family months ago because she could not stand to live in such poverty. Their father can only provide meal once a day, if they are still hungry they have to find food for themselves. Syarief (7 yo) used to go to school back in his village but his father could not afford to move him to a new school in Bekasi because he had no money to pay for his books, uniforms, etc. Hollies (6 yo) has not been to any schools yet. Both of them help their father to look for stuff from people’s garbage. Now Syarief and Hollies study in the shelter house. There they can have nutritious food and better and cheerful environment for kids their age. |
